Indiana Chapter Educational Fund

Members of the Indiana Chapter of the ACS
Colleagues & Friends:
The Indiana Chapter of the American College of Surgeons sponsors quarterly meetings and an annual scientific session each year. Our mission has been to educate, promote fellowship among the surgeons of the state of Indiana, and ultimately sustain excellent care for our patients.
We have functioned on a shoestring budget for many years, but have tried to maintain a high level of scientific and clinical effort. More recently, we have added a 4th resident prize for papers presented at the spring meeting. This year the Annual Scientific Meeting will be held out of state at Hilton Head SC. In order to enhance the quality of past meetings, we have invited a nationally prominent surgeon to address us and have shared the costs with Indiana University Department of Surgery.
The Officers and Councilors have long deliberated about maintaining a high standard and have offered to commit to donating a generous gift to maintain a scientific fund for continuing to sponsor prominent surgeons and assist with the support of Resident travel. In these times of declining reimbursement and onerous payment regulations, we find it important to continue attracting young individuals to our organization and to provide a voice with legislative bodies and insurers.
The Indiana Chapter would be appreciative of a gift of $100, $250 or $500 or what you feel appropriate to keep our educational efforts alive. The Fund will be known as the Indiana Chapter Educational Fund, and your gift will obviously be tax-free. If we are to continue in the future as a vehicle for collaborative education and legislative efforts in Indiana we will all need to pitch in and help.
Sincerely yours,
James A. Madura, MD FACS
Governor-at-Large Indiana
